Exodus 3:11-15
1. Moses hid behind incorrect theology – We are often burdened by what God asks us to do because we think He wants us to be the deliverer. In response to Moses’ first excuse, God essentially said: “Moses, I do not what to help you do this through Me; I want to do it through you!
2. Moses hid behind insufficient knowledge, God countered Moses’ second excuse with this truth: it is not what you know that counts, it is who you know
3. Moses hid behind an inferior self-concept. But the Lord confirmed: it is not who you are that matters: It is who I am.
4. Moses hid behind inadequate ability (speech). When God calls us to a task, He will enable us to do that which he commands. The Lord’s response to this excuse? It’s not your ability that counts, but Mine.
5. Moses hid behind incomplete trust (send someone else). God always has a man or a woman ready when He needs one.
We should not be too hard on Moses, for we have been in that same position
· We say, “I can’t do this for You” And God says, “then let Me do it through you.”
· We say, “I don’t know enough” God says “You know Me. That’s enough.”
· We say, “No one will respect me,” God says “That’s not important. What is important is that they respect Me.”
· We say, “I don’t have the ability.” God says, “My grace is sufficient; it’s My ability that counts.”
· We say, “God, send someone else.” And God says, “This is not a request”
When we feel inadequate to do the things God desires, we can be encouraged by the ways God met Moses’ needs, questions, and fears. We never know what God might do through us.
